MMA is a system for the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) to monitor micro-vibrations on the International Space Station, ISS. The Japanese ISS module will have multiple experiments performed in the micro-g environment. MMA will help correlate any experimental anomalies with ISS vibrations. These extraneous vibrations may be caused from spacecraft docking or from the astronaut activity.
Similar to the operation and functionality of the WIS™ family of systems, MMA is a network of wireless units distributed throughout the Japanese module. Each unit connects to an external tri-axial accelerometer. Other acquisition modules types are available.
