NASA Selects Invocon to Develop System for Automated Detection, Location, and Evaluation of Hypervelocity Impacts to Thermal Protection Systems

NASA Langley Research Center has selected Invocon’s Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) proposal for developing a system to monitor spacecraft thermal protection systems (TPS) for Hyper Velocity Impacts (HVIs) by Micro Meteoroids and Orbital Debris (MMOD). Invocon will use this opportunity to develop algorithms to evaluate the level of damage produced by HVIs. This capability will be added to our ability to autonomously detect and locate impacts to space vehicles. The ultimate goal of this work is to ensure that vehicles are fit to enter the atmosphere of earth or another planet in order to keep astronauts and equipment safe.

Invocon Selected by Office of Secretary of Defense to Develop Robust, Miniature IMU

The Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) has announced that they will negotiate a Phase I SBIR contract with Invocon to develop a robust Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) that provides higher accuracy than traditional MEMS IMUs. The objective is to operate reliably in a 155mm projectile that will experience 50,000g at launch. The new design will also minimize size, weight, and cost.
